Break.com - http://Break.com -- ranked seventh
among U.S. video websites in March
in terms of the number of visitors,
according to Web measurement firm HitWise.

This puts Break behind online giants
such as YouTube and Yahoo Inc.
but ahead of the hundreds of smaller sites jockeying for viewers.

"Most of these sites are going to fail,"
said James McQuivey, a principal analyst at Forrester Research.

Channels.com Launches Program Guide for Web Video

 April 6, 2007

Channels.com has launched a new Web video guide providing a source for locating and promoting video on the Web.

Channels.com is an all-in-one video guide where people can view clips and previews and find longer format videos from TV, cable and broadband programmers. It doesn't host any video. The site has been designed to play promotional video clips and previews hosted elsewhere on the Web.

The system, which went live in March, has been in development for more than two years. The Channels.com Web site is the centerpiece of the system. It includes genre-based guides for video surfing, an integrated video player, on-demand previews and clips, promotional placement, click-through links to ad-supported videos, RSS feeds, and other features.

The Channels guide is organized into playlists that are collections of links to videos related to certain topics. TV networks can chose which promotional clips it would like to make available to viewers through the site's playlist. The Channels bookmarking wizard allows video from all over the Web to be added to the guide and embedded in its integrated video player without any uploads. The site also offers viewers a real-time image of the playlist in a Channels Badge that can be embedded on Web sites all over the Internet.

The company is located in San Francisco and Palo Alto, Calif.
